Affleck/Damon leading ladies

In our current turbulent political and economic climate, I got to thinking about one of the great puzzles of our age: who’s been in movies with hotter chicks — Matt Damon or Ben Affleck? I present to you the following chart to let you decide for yourself.

Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Garner
Chick from The Recruit
Kate Beckinsale
Gwyneth Paltrow
Charlize Theron
Sandra Bullock
Liv Tyler
Joey Lauren Adams
Maura Tierney
Tough Love, Jersey Girl, etc. (2003, etc.)
Daredevil (2003)
Sum of All Fears (2002)
Pearl Harbor (2001)
Bounce (2000)
Reindeer Games (2000)
Forces of Nature (1999)
Armageddon (1998)
Chasing Amy (1997)
The Aaron Henry Story (1994)
Matt Damon
Franka Potente
Penelope Cruz
Charlize Theron
Drew Barrymore
Famke Janssen
Minnie Driver
Claire Danes
Bourne Identity (2002)
All the Pretty Horses (2000)
Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
Titan A.E. (2000)
Rounders (1998)
Good Will Hunting (1997)
The Rainmaker (1997)

Note I only include romantic leads, which means neither Cate Blanchett nor Gwyneth Paltrow qualify for The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Looking at this list informs me that 1) these two careers diverged severely (not qualifying for this list for Matt Damon are Oceans 11, Saving Private Ryan, Courage Under Fire — EVERYTHING qualifies for Ben Affleck), and 2) though Matt Damon doesn’t seem to subscribe to the Affleck/Paltrow/Ryder school of date whomever you’re making a movie with, he must feel the greater impetus to do so.

  1. Heh heh heh. Was it Gretchen Mol? I`m looking it up… yep. Ol` I-was-hot-for-five-minutes but Renee-Zellweger-had-the-better-D`Onofrio-connection Gretchen Mol. Got to be thankless to be the second hottness banana to Famke Janssen.

  2. You forgot the blonde from Rounders, the law student with whom Matt`s character was living . I can`t remember her name.

  3. Ah, but now Gretchen Mol is portraying Bettie Page in an upcoming movie about her. Looks like her hotness is making a comeback.
